As reported by BBC, Sunderland midfielder Jack Diamond has appeared before the Newcastle Crown Court in a case of sexual assault.

The 23-year-old footballer met a girl on the dating app Tinder, and she agreed to come to his home to get acquainted.

According to the girl, she came for a hug, but things escalated to the point where she found herself in bed with Jack. After some "sexual activities," she told Diamond that she wanted to sleep, but he did not listen and continued. Despite her protests, the footballer sexually assaulted her.

Diamond himself claims that the sexual encounter was consensual.

In a conversation with the police, the girl also mentioned that she was frightened by the idea of a threesome, which Diamond had previously mentioned in their communication. According to her, he wanted to invite Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. While in the house, she sent an SOS signal to her friend on Snapchat.

Before the trial, the court dismissed two jurors, finding out that they were Newcastle fans, the main rival of Sunderland. This was done to avoid bias.

Back in March 2023, when Diamond was charged, Sunderland suspended the midfielder from training.
