The NHL team, Arizona Coyotes, may potentially relocate to a new city - Salt Lake City, in the state of Utah, as reported by journalist Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.

The league has begun considering schedules for the 2024-25 season, with two teams listed - the Arizona Coyotes and the Arizona Salt Lake City. However, this does not imply that the league is planning a team relocation. Rather, it's a contingency plan in case of unforeseen circumstances. These rumors surfaced shortly after Utah billionaire Ryan Smith announced a survey regarding a possible NHL team name.

The first scenario hinges on whether the club wins the auction for the sale of land in North Phoenix, scheduled for June 27th. The second scenario presupposes that the Coyotes will relocate even before the auction. The club owner, Alex Meruelo, purportedly could sell a controlling stake to Smith for $1.2 billion, inclusive of relocation fees, which would be distributed among all teams.

An announcement regarding the sale and relocation could potentially emerge as early as April 18th, the day after the Coyotes' last home game. However, it's emphasized that there's no deal in place for the sale yet. Meruelo still believes he can build a new arena in Arizona. One of the conditions for the sale of the club might be assurance that Meruelo can "reboot" the franchise during a potential league expansion in a few years.

The NHL still has time until the new season to address all issues. If a sale agreement isn't reached by the end of May, the league will await the auction results. This would mean the team would remain at the university arena for at least another year. This is assuming the arena is indeed constructed as planned, as the league is keen on not leaving the state.

As remind, the legendary NHL club Boston Bruins posted a rather unusual video on their X page. The Bruins showcased the interior of their airplane.
