During the WTA1000 tournament in Madrid, Russian tennis player Maria Timofeeva, aged 20, had ten thousand euros stolen from her accounts.

She announced on her Instagram page that the money was spent in the area close to her residence. Timofeeva also asked her followers for advice on what to do in this situation. Additionally, after posting a video on Instagram, Maria shared a separate story, clarifying some details, and then reiterated that she would file a police report regarding the incident.

In July 2023, Timofeeva won her first WTA title in Budapest, defeating Kateryna Baindl in three sets in the final. She became only the fourth lucky loser in WTA tour history to win a title in singles (and the first since 2019).

Moreover, in January 2024, she made it into the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career through qualification at the Australian Open.

It's worth noting that the world's second-ranked player, Aryna Sabalenka, has commented for the first time on the death of former hockey player Konstantin Koltsov.
