In FC Porto, the elections for the new president of the club were held, with the incumbent leader Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa and former coach of several English clubs, teams from Italy, France, and other countries, André Villas-Boas, participating.

With a significant margin, Villas-Boas emerged victorious, securing over 80% of the votes.

Thus, in Porto, a new club president emerged after 42 years of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa's reign. During his tenure, the team secured 68 trophies, including two UEFA Champions League titles. It was under his leadership that Villas-Boas began his coaching career at Porto, first as an assistant and then as the head coach.

It is worth noting that Porto recently extended the contract with the current head coach, Sérgio Conceição. However, according to the regulations, a change in the president nullifies this agreement, making the question of contract renewal with the coach relevant once again. The new president, along with the club's management, will have to reconsider the extension of the coach's contract.

André Villas-Boas did not have a professional football career, instead playing for amateur Portuguese clubs from 1987 to 1999. In 2000, he became the technical, but effectively the head coach of the British Virgin Islands national team. Afterward, he worked as an assistant coach at Porto, Chelsea, and Inter Milan. In 2009, he took charge of the Portuguese club Académica de Coimbra, and a year later, he was appointed at Porto, where he spent one season. He also had stints in the coaching positions at Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Marseille, and other clubs worldwide.
