The decision to make changes to the points-scoring system for drivers in Formula 1 has been postponed indefinitely, as reported by Motorsport. During a meeting of the regular Formula 1 commission, some smaller teams supported the proposal to introduce changes; however, it was decided that more time is needed for a thorough analysis of the reform's consequences.

According to the proposed concept, points were supposed to be distributed among the top 12 drivers instead of the current top 10. This decision was motivated by the gap between the top 5 teams and the rest, as three teams, including Alpine, Williams, and Sauber, have yet to score any points in the current season.

It is worth noting that the existing points-scoring system was introduced in 2010, and an additional point for the fastest lap by a driver finishing in the top 10 was added in 2019.
