After that, he decided to move up to the 63 kg weight category and in December of the same year, he captured the WBC title from Regis Prograis.

This boxer is a bright star of amateur boxing, and since 2016, he has embarked on his professional boxing career, starting with fights in Mexico. His breakthrough came in 2018-2019 when he knocked out experienced fighters in the early rounds one after another, such as Jose Lopez, Romero Duno, and Francisco Fonseca. Like Haney, he fought for the temporary WBC title, defeating Olympic champion Luke Campbell in 2021, but then lost it due to injury and mental health issues. Since 2022, he has been competing in the super lightweight division, where he has secured victories over Javier Fortuna and Oscar Duarte. His only defeat came in a bout against the star Gervonta Davis. Interestingly, the upcoming bout will be his first in his career for a full-fledged championship belt.
