The final match of the MLS between Columbus Crew and Los Angeles took place tonight at the "Lower.com Field" in Columbus.

Los Angeles was defending last year's championship title, their first, while Columbus Crew had previously claimed the MLS championship twice, in 2008 and 2020.

The hosts marked their territory in the first half, scoring twice against their opponents. Palacios initially handled the ball in their penalty area, leading to a penalty that Kucho confidently converted in the 33rd minute, outmaneuvering the goalkeeper by sending the ball into different corners. Four minutes later, Yau Yaboa elegantly capitalized on a pass from Malte Meinke Amundsen from the center of the field, doubling his team's advantage.

Los Angeles was determined to fight back in the second half. Their efforts led to a goal by Dani Buangi in the 74th minute. The Gabonese footballer received a pass inside the opponent's box, attempted a shot, which the goalkeeper saved, but Buangi's follow-up play reduced his team's deficit to one goal. However, the match concluded with a score of 2-1 in favor of Columbus Crew.

This MLS Cup marked their third in history, placing them third in the tally of this trophy. Los Angeles Galaxy holds the most titles (five times), followed by DC United (four times).

It was the final match of this season in the MLS, allowing the players to enjoy some well-deserved rest and time away from the pitch.
