Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele sees his injury as the time to introspect in his career than looking at it as a setback
Thabo Cele has turned his misfortune to a positive experience.
The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has been out of the team since November and speculation has been rife that co-coaches Ben Youssef Khalid and Cedric Kaze dislike his playing style.
That they dislike his playing style has been made the reason why he is not featuring for Amakhosi.
But the player has revealed that he has been on the sidelines because of injury.
"I can say that injuries are part of the game," said Cele on Gagasi FM.
"There’s always going to be setbacks and challenges, it’s just how you look at it, your perspective.”
Instead of seeing it as a setback, the former Bafana Bafana international said this injury gave him an opportunity to look at things differently.
"So, how I saw it was to introspect and be able to find other things because I’m always trying to improve myself.
"I’m in that phase and I’m able to use time while I’m injured so that when I return, I return better to be able to help the team to win more, and like Sibongiseni Mthethwa said, eventually to win trophies," he continued.
Now Amakhosi are on the verge of finishing the season without a trophy as they were knockout of the Nedbank Cup in midweek and their hopes are on the Caf Confederation Cup.
They also have an opportunity to challenge for the Betway Premiership title.
They face Egyptian side Al Masry tomorrow in Limpopo in a Caf game where they will be hoping for a victory to give themselves hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the competition.
