End of the road for Panthere Sportive in the CAF Confederation Cup

The Cameroonian club were knocked out of the competition due to the goal they conceded at home in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the competition.

Cameroon’s representatives in the 2026–2027 CAF Confederation Cup will not progress to the second preliminary round. Away in Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday 12 September, Nzuimanto played out a goalless draw (0–0) against Rayon Sports FC in the second leg of the first preliminary round.

However, prior to this draw, Panthere Sportive and Rayon Sports FC had also played out a 1–1 draw in Yaoundé in the first leg. The away goal scored by the Rwandans proved decisive in their favour.

The Cameroonians have therefore been knocked out at the first preliminary round of the 2026–2027 CAF Confederation Cup. Bertin Nguemaleu and his team-mates will now have to settle for the Elite One, Cameroon’s professional league, and the Cameroon Cup.

Rayon Sports FC, meanwhile, advance to the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
