Tomorrow in Wroclaw, Poland, the Conference League final will take place between Real Betis and Chelsea. The match hasn't even kicked off yet, but we're already witnessing a controversial refereeing decision—this time, from UEFA officials themselves.
Details: The main referee for the final is 40-year-old Bosnian Irfan Peljto, who, earlier this season, was suspended for six matches in his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to erroneous decisions made during the Zrinjski Mostar vs Borac Banja Luka match in September, which ended 1-1.
Back then, the Bosnian federation identified three major mistakes by Peljto. He failed to award a penalty to Borac, then missed a foul in the very next attack, which led to a goal against Zrinjski. Another error came when he did not give an obvious penalty for the team from Mostar.
He was banned for six matches in the Bosnian league, and all VAR officials from that match also received six-game suspensions.
