Chelsea winger could stay in London?
London club Chelsea has rejected Leeds United's first official loan offer for winger Mykhailo Mudryk for the 2026/27 season.
Details: According to BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Leeds' initial financial terms did not satisfy the London club's management, but negotiations are ongoing. The 25-year-old Ukrainian winger himself is leaning towards a move to Elland Road to regain match fitness after a 20-month suspension due to a positive meldonium test. Mudryk's ban expired in July, and he has already featured in several pre-season matches for Chelsea under Xabi Alonso.
Leeds remain the frontrunners in the race for the player, as they are willing to accept a straight loan deal without a purchase option. This allows Chelsea to retain the player's rights while transferring the full wage burden to the Yorkshire side.
Mudryk has also attracted interest from Brentford (who proposed a loan with an obligatory buyout, which did not suit the Blues), Coventry City, Italian clubs, and Strasbourg. However, the winger himself prioritises continuing his career in the English Premier League.
