Barcelona paid tribute to Kobe Bryant with special kit in match against Elche
Barcelona honored legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant during their La Liga Matchday 2 clash against Elche. The Catalan club took to the pitch wearing a special kit inspired by the NBA star’s iconic image.
The kit was designed with clear references to the famous Los Angeles Lakers aesthetic—the team for which Bryant played his entire career. In this way, Barcelona sought to pay homage to one of the most iconic figures in global sports history.
The special "Blaugrana" kit was unveiled last month, but it was in the match against Elche that the Catalans wore it for the first time in official competition.
For the club, this is more than just a unique design—it’s a symbolic gesture of respect to a man who inspired athletes worldwide for years. Bryant frequently attended Barcelona matches and maintained a close relationship with the Catalan side.
It’s especially poignant that today would have been Kobe Bryant’s 48th birthday. The legendary basketball player tragically died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
