Michael Carrick has received unanimous backing from the Manchester United board to take over as the club’s permanent manager.
Details: According to TeamTalk, after an impressive stint as interim boss—during which the team won 10 out of 14 matches and secured a Champions League spot ahead of schedule—Carrick’s candidacy became the club’s top priority. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and sporting director Jason Wilcox ultimately rejected eight other contenders, including high-profile names such as Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann.
Reports suggest that Carrick’s success was not just about results, but also his ability to unite the dressing room: team leaders, including Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire, openly supported his appointment.
The club is already working to strengthen the coaching staff and is planning to lure Aaron Danks—Carrick’s longtime ally—from Bayern Munich. The Manchester United hierarchy is convinced that Michael is the man whose tactical acumen and deep understanding of the club’s culture can usher in a new era of success at Old Trafford.
Reminder: Manchester United is considering a Manchester City academy graduate as a potential replacement for Bruno Fernandes.
