Everton are preparing an emergency move as the transfer deadline rapidly approaches.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Everton have contacted Manchester United over a possible late deal for Joshua Zirkzee. The Toffees are considering the Dutch striker as an alternative in case their move for Folarin Balogun ultimately collapses.

Romano reports that the final decision on Zirkzee rests with Manchester United. The Red Devils have already rejected approaches from Italian clubs for the forward during the last 48 hours, but Everton have now entered the race at the decisive stage of deadline day.

Everton are also in direct contact with Zirkzee's representatives, meaning the Merseyside club are simultaneously working on the player's side of a potential deal while waiting to understand Manchester United's position.

The sudden move comes amid serious uncertainty surrounding Balogun's proposed transfer to Everton. Medical tests raised concerns within the Toffees' staff, although Monaco and the striker's representatives insist that the American forward is ready to play.

It is worth noting that Zirkzee joined Manchester United from Bologna in the summer of 2024. The Dutch forward's current contract at Old Trafford runs until 2029.
