Boom! Man United try to sign Man City star in the final hours of deadline day
Manchester United are making one final push to strengthen the left side of their defence.
Details: According to Ben Jacobs, working alongside Sam C and Alex Crook for talkSPORT, Manchester United have made a deadline-day enquiry to Manchester City over a possible move for left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri. The first approach has already taken place, although it remains unclear whether the discussions will develop into serious negotiations before the window closes.
Manchester City, however, are understood to consider a deal unlikely at this stage. That makes United's move a particularly ambitious one, with only the closing stages of deadline day available for the clubs to find common ground.
The enquiry also underlines United's determination to reinforce the left-back position. The club have explored several options in recent days, including Ian Maatsen and Alejandro Balde, but neither pursuit has produced a breakthrough so far.
It is worth noting that Aït-Nouri joined Manchester City from Wolverhampton in June 2025. The Algeria international signed a five-year contract with the club, which runs until the summer of 2030.
