Details: According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have informed Monaco and Lamine Camara that if the midfielder does not secure his move, the Reds could potentially return for him in 2027. The message arrived after a chaotic deadline day in which Chelsea pushed hard to sign the 22-year-old Senegal international.

Chelsea's attempt ultimately failed. Sacha Tavolieri reported that Camara would remain at Monaco after the proposed transfer fell through despite significant progress in negotiations. Earlier on deadline day, an agreement in principle worth around €55 million and permission for the player to travel for a medical had been reported.

There is one important clarification: Jacobs' update does not state that Liverpool caused Chelsea's deal to collapse. Liverpool are described as keeping the door firmly open for a future move rather than blocking the Blues or making a decisive late bid of their own.

That makes 2027 the key date in this story. Camara stays at Monaco for now, while Liverpool have effectively let both the French club and the player know that their interest may return if the circumstances are right.

It is worth noting that Monaco's official 2026/27 statistics currently list Camara with four appearances, 360 minutes and one goal. The club's first-team squad also still includes the 22-year-old Senegal midfielder after the transfer deadline.
