The deal, valued at €55 million, is now reportedly off. The development comes only hours after Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea and Monaco had reached an agreement in principle for the Senegal international and that Camara had been authorized to travel for his medical.
The source claims Monaco changed their position after renegotiating the terms of Folarin Balogun's proposed transfer to Everton. That situation had itself become complicated during the final hours of the window, with questions emerging after the striker's medical examinations.
Chelsea are said to be particularly angered by the manner of Monaco's U-turn because the agreement for Camara had already been confirmed in writing. The London club reportedly view the French side's conduct as deeply unprofessional, leaving one of the biggest deadline-day deals on the verge of collapse after appearing to be virtually completed.
It is worth noting that Camara joined Monaco from Metz on July 30, 2024 and signed a five-year contract running until June 2029. According to Monaco's official profile, the Senegal midfielder made 40 appearances in his first season with the club, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.
