The Democratic Republic of the Congo international has signed a one-season contract.

Axel Tuanzebe will continue his career in France. A free agent following a season at Burnley, the 28-year-old Congolese defender has chosen Ligue 1 to relaunch his career.

The Congolese player will therefore take on a new challenge playing for AJ Auxerre in the French professional league. The DR Congo international has officially signed for the French club on a one-season deal with an optional extension for a further year.

Having come through the ranks at Manchester United, Axel Tuanzebe has played for several European clubs. He has represented Aston Villa, Napoli, Ipswich and Stoke City. A versatile defender, Tuanzebe is capable of playing both in central defence and at right-back. The Congolese international now brings his top-flight experience to Auxerre.

Axel Tuanzebe has represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the international stage since 2024. He recently took part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Leopards, which was held in the Americas.
