The Manchester United board has identified its top target for a long-term attacking reinforcement.

However, Manchester United's ambitious plans don't end with Rogers. As part of a major midfield overhaul, the club is also working actively on a deal for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes. Both players are seen as key components in the future structure of the squad, which is expected to restore United to the summit of English football.
The club is expected to step up negotiations for these deals in the upcoming transfer window.
This season, the English midfielder has made 51 appearances for the Birmingham club, scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists.
Reminder: Manchester United and Chelsea are locked in a battle for Sporting's star defender Maximiliano Araujo.
