“The most important thing isn’t goals and assists,” says Brahim Diaz ahead of France - Morocco
The Moroccan international has emphasised that the team’s objective takes precedence over individual performances.
As Morocco face France this Thursday, 9 July at 8 pm GMT in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, Brahim Diaz has expressed his determination. At a press conference ahead of the match, the Moroccan attacking midfielder emphasised that personal statistics are merely a detail if they do not contribute to his team’s victory.
“The most important thing isn’t goals or assists. But if I can help us win, I’ll do it. It’s a match we’ve all dreamt of playing. I’m confident we’ll play well. I, for one, am ready. ”
This quarter-final will also mark a reunion between Brahim Diaz and his Real Madrid team-mates, notably Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni. But for the Moroccan international, friendship will take a back seat to competition.
“I’ll be seeing Kylian and Aurélien again, yes, but on the pitch we’re rivals.”
