Nabil Neghiz appointed as Niger’s head coach

The Niger Football Federation officially announced the appointment of the Algerian manager on Friday 11 September.

A new era is dawning at the helm of the Niger national team’s coaching staff. The governing body of Nigerien football has decided to hand the reins of the Mena National to Nabil Neghiz. The Nigerien Federation, which announced the appointment of the new head coach of its national team, has not, however, disclosed the length of Nabil Neghiz’s contract.

But the Algerian coach will take charge of the Niger national team from the next international break. Nabil Neghiz will make his debut at the helm of Niger’s coaching staff on the first matchday of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Mena National will face Lesotho on 25 September before travelling to Gabon on 29 September for the second matchday of the qualifiers. An international friendly is also on the schedule for the Mena National. Niger will face Algeria on 6 October 2026 in Tizi Ouzou.

It should be noted that Nabil Neghiz previously served as Vladimir Petkovic’s assistant on the coaching staff of the Algerian national team.
