La Liga has published its new squad cost limits, and the numbers at the top of Spanish football are simply from another planet.
Details: Real Madrid have been granted a record salary limit of 832 million euros by La Liga, the highest spending capacity in the competition. Barcelona have also made a huge financial improvement: their limit has risen to 582 million euros, up from 432.8 million, thanks in part to new revenue generated by the return to Camp Nou.
The gap between the two giants and the rest of La Liga remains enormous. It's worth noting that La Liga's squad cost limit covers not only player salaries but also coaching staff wages, amortization of transfer fees and bonuses, which is why it serves as the league's main financial control tool.
