Details: According to The Independent and BBC Sport, Tottenham and Vasco da Gama had reached an agreement over Richarlison's transfer, but the Brazilian forward failed to agree personal terms with the Rio de Janeiro club. As a result, the deal collapsed before the Brazilian transfer window closed, and the 29-year-old is now expected to remain in London for the first half of the season.

The failed Vasco move leaves Richarlison in an extremely difficult position. A proposed switch to Trabzonspor had already fallen through earlier, while the transfer windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia have since closed. Brazil represented one of the last realistic routes out of Tottenham, but that option has now disappeared as well.

The situation is particularly complicated because Richarlison was omitted from Tottenham's 25-man Premier League squad. Roberto De Zerbi's side had already informed the forward that he was not part of their first-team plans, meaning he cannot feature in Premier League matches before the registration situation can be revisited in January.

Richarlison is now assessing his options. Reports earlier this week indicated that the Brazil international was exploring whether an agreement could be reached to end the remaining nine months of his Tottenham contract, although the London club also hold an option to extend the deal by another year.

It is worth noting that Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022. Despite the current standoff, he was the club's leading Premier League scorer last season, finding the net 11 times.
