England, Middlesbrough, Riverside Stadium

The Championship seventh-round match between Middlesbrough and Norwich City will take place on 12 September at the Riverside Stadium. The hosts have won all three of their home matches this season, while the visitors have claimed three victories in their last four league games.

Middlesbrough: strong run at the Riverside

Kim Hellberg's side have won their last three home matches by an aggregate score of 6-2. Will Lankshear has been particularly impressive, scoring five goals in three competitive appearances at the Riverside since his summer move.

Middlesbrough lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace in the League Cup during the week, but the coaching staff made significant changes to the starting line-up. In the Championship, the team have looked much more consistent and were unbeaten in four consecutive matches before that cup defeat.

Norwich City: three wins in four rounds

After defeats to West Bromwich Albion 2-1 and Millwall 3-0, Philippe Clement's side have improved considerably. In their next four league matches, Norwich beat Burnley, Sheffield United and Birmingham, losing only to Stoke City.

The 2-1 victory over Birmingham was particularly important given that Mohamed Toure and Anis Ben Slimane were rested. Both are expected to return to the starting line-up against Middlesbrough.

Match facts and head-to-head record

  • Middlesbrough have won their last three home matches by an aggregate score of 6-2.
  • Norwich have won three of their last four Championship matches.
  • Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their last nine meetings with Norwich.

The hosts can maintain their perfect home run: Middlesbrough vs Norwich City prediction

Norwich have improved significantly after a difficult start and, with Toure and Ben Slimane returning, are capable of causing the hosts serious problems. However, their consistency away from home remains questionable.

Middlesbrough look far more convincing on their own ground, while Lankshear is in excellent form. In an evenly matched contest, home advantage could prove decisive.
