Sensational Brighton continue to surprise. Manchester City suffer second straight Premier League defeat
Brighton continue to surprise in the English Premier League. In the ninth-round match, Fabian Hürzeler’s side defeated Manchester City 1-0 away from home, avenging their defeat to the opponents in the Carabao Cup just a few days earlier.
The result was further confirmation of just how awkward an opponent the Seagulls have become for the Manchester club. Brighton are now unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches against Manchester City: over that span, the south-coast side have claimed three wins and drawn twice.
What’s more, Brighton have already managed to beat a number of English heavyweights this season. Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all among their beaten opponents. The victory over the Citizens allowed Hürzeler’s team to remain in third place in the table after the ninth round.
The situation is becoming increasingly worrying for Manchester City: Enzo Maresca’s team have suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat. Arsenal can take advantage of their rival’s slip-up. If the Londoners beat Liverpool, they will move into first place and open up a three-point lead over Maresca’s side.
