Manchester City found themselves at the center of a major refereeing scandal during their home match against Brighton in the ninth round of the English Premier League. The game featured two separate possible handball incidents, after which the hosts' players demanded penalties.

The first incident occurred in the 44th minute. Following Elliot Anderson's shot, a Brighton defender blocked the ball with his body, but it then ricocheted onto Vushkovich's arm. Manchester City players immediately appealed to the referee, but the whistle remained silent.

Another similar incident followed immediately afterwards. This time, after Ndiaye's cross, the ball once again struck a visiting defender's arm. The incident sparked even more outrage among City's players, who insisted that a penalty should be awarded. However, the referee stood firm and once again refused to point to the spot.

Both incidents sparked a furious reaction on social media, with fans debating the referee's decisions. At the same time, Manchester City went into the break trailing 0-1 after Yasin Ayari's goal. The team must now not only fight their way back into the match but also cope with the emotional pressure following the controversial refereeing decisions.
