Palmer reaches a historic milestone at Chelsea: only two club legends did it faster
Chelsea defeated Manchester United in the ninth round of the English Premier League. The meeting at Stamford Bridge ended 2-0, with Cole Palmer emerging as one of the night's standout performers thanks to a historic achievement.
The Londoners opened the scoring in the 50th minute. Morgan Rogers capitalized on an opportunity after a swift attack to put the hosts ahead. Manchester United tried to fight back, but soon found themselves in an even more difficult position.
In the 63rd minute, visiting defender Lisandro Martinez received a second yellow card and left his team down to 10 men. Chelsea were awarded a penalty, which Palmer converted to make it 2-0—the final score.
For the England midfielder, the goal was his 50th in the Premier League for Chelsea. According to Opta, Palmer reached the milestone in 105 appearances. Only two Chelsea players achieved it faster: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (84 matches) and Diego Costa (85).
