Famous coach ready to take charge as Manchester United identifies top candidate to replace Carrick
Michael Carrick's position as Manchester United head coach remains precarious. According to GIVEMESPORT, defeats to Como and Bournemouth have intensified the pressure on the manager, while the club's hierarchy even held emergency talks this week.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Carrick will likely be given the chance to lead the team in the upcoming matches against Roma and Aston Villa. For now, however, the club's hierarchy continues to back the manager despite the disappointing results.
At the same time, Manchester United are already considering potential successors. Julian Nagelsmann, Antonio Conte, Cesc Fàbregas, Unai Emery and Fabian Hürzeler are among the candidates. However, according to Jacobs, the club's preferred option is Eddie Howe.
Nagelsmann is reportedly behind the Englishman in the club's internal discussions. Howe is currently out of work, although Manchester United would have to pay Newcastle around £3 million in compensation to appoint him. Luring Emery away from Aston Villa or Hürzeler from Brighton, however, would be considerably more difficult.
