By opening the scoring for the DR Congo against England, the Congolese striker scored one of the fastest goals by an African nation in the knockout stages of the competition.

Brian Cipenga caused a sensation this Wednesday 1st July in the World Cup round of 32, which is being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Congolese winger opened the scoring for the Leopards as early as the 7th minute.

His goal is now the second-fastest scored by an African player in a World Cup knockout match. Only Kevin-Prince Boateng, playing for Ghana, had found the net more quickly, scoring in the 5th minute against the United States in 2010. Brian Cipenga has therefore overtaken Achraf Dari, who scored in the 9th minute for Morocco against Croatia in 2022.
