Official! Premier League club sign 2026 World Cup star
Brighton have added one of Canada's breakout World Cup names to their attacking options.
Details: Brighton & Hove Albion have officially signed 25-year-old Canada international Promise David. The centre-forward arrives at the Premier League club after his spell with Belgian side Union St.Gilloise, where his performances turned him into one of the most prominent Canadian forwards playing in Europe.
David attracted even more attention during the 2026 World Cup on home soil. His standout moment came in Canada's group-stage clash with Switzerland: the striker came off the bench and scored with his first touch, giving the hosts hope in a match they eventually lost 2-1.
Canada later advanced through the knockout stage before their run ended against Morocco in the round of 16. David remained part of Jesse Marsch's attacking rotation and completed a remarkable rise after previously playing club football in Estonia before establishing himself in Belgium.
The striker had also started the new campaign in goalscoring form for Union St.Gilloise, finding the net against Westerlo and Bodø/Glimt in August. It is worth noting that Transfermarkt currently estimates Promise David's market value at €17 million.
