Boom! Arsenal snatch England star in €58m deal
Arsenal are on the verge of adding a major defensive reinforcement.
Details: According to David Ornstein, Arsenal have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign England defender Ezri Konsa. The base fee for the 28-year-old will be £51 million, with additional bonuses included in the package. The defender is expected to undergo a medical before completing the remaining formalities of the move.
The agreement comes after several rounds of negotiations between the Premier League clubs. Aston Villa had previously rejected a significantly lower approach and were holding out for around £60 million, but dialogue at ownership level helped the sides narrow the valuation gap.
Konsa has been high on Arsenal's defensive shortlist throughout the summer. His ability to operate both at centre-back and right-back is particularly valuable for Mikel Arteta, with William Saliba and Jurrien Timber both dealing with injury problems ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
It is worth noting that Transfermarkt currently values Konsa at €45 million. The defender also started seven of England's eight matches at the 2026 World Cup and helped Aston Villa win the 2025/26 Europa League.
