DR Congo head coach Sébastien Desabre faced a heartbreaking moment after the Round of 16 match at the 2026 World Cup against England.
Details: The 49-year-old manager learned of his father's passing during the post-match press conference, following DR Congo's 1-2 defeat.
During the press briefing, a representative of the DR Congo Football Federation announced:
"We announce that the coach has lost his father, so we offer our deepest condolences."
Desabre simply replied, "Thank you," before ending his appearance in front of the journalists.
This emotional blow came on top of sporting disappointment. DR Congo were eliminated from the World Cup after a defeat to England, despite taking the lead and putting up a fierce fight.
