A major conflict has erupted at the highest levels of world football leadership.

Details: According to Sky News, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has officially parted ways with its chief operating officer Kevin Lamour. The dismissal came shortly after Lamour made scathing remarks directed at FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The dispute was triggered by Infantino’s plans to bring in external investors and sell a portion of the rights to host the World Cup. Lamour, a longtime colleague of the FIFA chief dating back to their days at UEFA, publicly claimed that staff had been misled regarding these commercial plans. The top executive described the project as a one-man initiative and stressed that he was prepared to have his contract terminated for voicing his stance.

It’s worth noting that this evening, official FIFA representatives confirmed the end of Lamour’s employment, declining to comment on the terms of his departure.
