Footballer Fabio Quagliarella, who has graced the ranks of several Serie A clubs and the Italian national team, has decided to draw the curtains on his career at the age of 40, as reported by journalist Nicolo Schira.

Born in a small town near Naples, Fabio was a fan of Napoli from his early days, but only joined the club at the age of 26.

His journey commenced in 2002 with Torino. Subsequently, he experienced loan spells at Fiorentina and Calci, only to then transition to Udinese in 2005. However, he was immediately loaned to Ascoli, where he gained his initial game time. A year later, Sampdoria signed him, marking his tenure as a pivotal player before eventually returning to Udinese.

In 2009, Quagliarella finally secured his move to his beloved club, Napoli, yet within a year, he was loaned to Juventus, which later permanently acquired his contract.

The striker journeyed through several more clubs, making appearances for Torino and Sampdoria again, ultimately settling with Genoa-based club since 2016.

During his stint with Juventus, he clinched the Italian championship thrice and secured the country's Supercup twice. Notably, he emerged as the top scorer of Serie A in the 2018/19 season, netting 26 goals.

Quagliarella represented the national team, participating in Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup. In 2020, he earned a call-up for the European Championship, marking his return to international football after 3048 days.
