The Club World Cup semifinal against PSG turned into a disaster for Real Madrid right from the start. What Xabi Alonso's side experienced hasn't happened in ages—so long ago that not all of the current first-team players were even around then.
Details: For the first time since November 9, 2003, Real conceded three goals in the opening 25 minutes of a match. Back then, Los Blancos were visiting the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, and by the 14th minute, Sevilla, thanks to goals from Dario Silva, Dani Alves, and an own goal by Ivan Helguera, were already three goals up.
Previously, Real had found themselves in this situation 22 times and lost on 21 occasions. The only time they managed to come back from three early goals was in the 1967/1968 season, also against Sevilla, pulling off a dramatic 4-3 comeback.
Reminder: Real had already conceded two goals to PSG by the ninth minute, not without some glaring errors from their own defense.
