Barcelona have set their sights on another high-profile reinforcement for the heart of their midfield.

Details: According to El Nacional, Barcelona are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz, and Hansi Flick has already given his approval to the idea. The German coach reportedly believes the 30-year-old Spaniard could add experience, quality and stronger competition in midfield. Ruiz is also said to be open to returning to Spain after several seasons abroad.

However, Barcelona are far from alone in the race. The report names Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Inter Milan among the clubs keeping a close eye on the Spanish international. That level of competition could make any potential operation significantly more complicated for the Catalan side.

Ruiz remains a Paris Saint-Germain player, and his current contract runs until 2028. El Nacional reports that the midfielder is comfortable in Paris but would consider another major challenge in Spain, making Barcelona one of the possible destinations if the conditions for a transfer become favourable.

It is worth noting that Fabián Ruiz is officially among the 30 nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, underlining the status Barcelona would be targeting with this potential move.
