Real Madrid are moving quickly to settle one of their most important long-term questions.

Details: According to AS, Real Madrid and Thibaut Courtois are just one step away from reaching an agreement on a new contract that would keep the Belgian goalkeeper at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2028.

If the negotiations are successfully completed, the new deal would effectively add another season to Courtois' stay in Madrid. The club are not planning to wait until the final months of the campaign before making a decision on the 34-year-old goalkeeper's future.

The Madrid hierarchy are reportedly completely satisfied with Courtois' performances and believe he has done more than enough to earn another contract. The club have also studied the goalkeeper market and currently see no option that would clearly improve the position.

José Mourinho also continues to place his trust in the Belgian, while AS reports that approaches from clubs in financially stronger markets have been rejected. Courtois himself is described as happy with the prospect of remaining at Real Madrid for as long as possible.

It is worth noting that according to Real Madrid's official website, Courtois has made five appearances in the 2026/27 season so far, recording 16 saves and one clean sheet.
