England and Crystal Palace central defender Marc Guéhi has become embroiled in a major controversy.

Details: According to The Athletic, the player faces potential punishment for his actions in the recent match against Newcastle (1-1).

Guéhi, as captain of Crystal Palace, wrote a religious message on the rainbow armband, a symbol of the LGBTQ+ movement, which all Premier League captains wore during the latest matchweek as part of a special initiative.

On his armband, Guéhi inscribed the phrase: “I love Jesus.”

This act violated IFAB's regulations, which state: “Equipment must not have any political, religious, or personal slogans, statements, or images.”

Guéhi is now likely to receive a monetary fine as a penalty.

Reminder: Ipswich Town recently explained why their captain, Sam Morsy, refused to wear the rainbow armband.
