WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers: ASEC Mimosas’ run comes to an end
Despite their convincing victory over Niger’s AS GNN, the Ivorian side have been knocked out.
ASEC Mimosas will not be taking part in the next CAF Women’s Champions League. The Ivorian club were unable to keep up with the pace of the qualifiers currently underway in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Ivorian champions suffered two consecutive defeats in Group B, which had already sealed their elimination. Nevertheless, the Ivorian women ended the WAFU B tournament on a high note.
Against AS GNN of Niger, ASEC Mimosas pulled out all the stops. They secured a resounding 5–0 victory. Kayaba Tatiana scored a hat-trick in the 36th, 55th and 61st minutes, whilst Gnounoué Erika (45+1) and Brou Sopie each scored a goal.
Despite this victory, ASEC Mimosas are out of the tournament, as are AS GNN.
