Malick Yalcouyé scores his first Premier League goal

The Ivorian midfielder found the back of the net for Brighton at Stamford Bridge this Sunday 30 August.

Away from home on the matchday 2 of the Premier League, Brighton struggled against Chelsea in the first half. The Seagulls quickly found themselves 3-0 down to the Blues.

But it was Malick Yalcouyé who helped Brighton reduce the deficit before half-time. The 20-year-old Ivorian midfielder found the net in the 35th minute with a sumptuous volley, bringing the score to 3–1 just a few minutes after Chelsea’s third goal.

A standout moment for the 20-year-old Ivorian, despite his team’s 4-3 defeat. This was, in fact, Malick Yalcouyé’s very first Premier League goal, marking his debut in the top flight of English football.

Having come through the ranks at ASEC Mimosas in Ivory Coast before moving to IFK Göteborg in Sweden, Malick had already caught the eye with his talent before joining Brighton. His goal against Chelsea on Sunday confirms the potential that prompted the Seagulls to take a chance on him.
