Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla has claimed that her Instagram account was hacked. This came just days after she posted racist insults targeting France's national team captain Kylian Mbappé following the match against Paraguay.
Details: The politician asserts that her page was compromised and that she is not responsible for any posts appearing from today onwards. However, experts note that there are no clear signs of external interference on her profile.
Previously, Amarilla published a series of offensive social media posts, calling Mbappé a "boorish brute" and a "colonized Cameroonian," as well as making several disparaging remarks about his African heritage. The scandal erupted after a tense 2026 World Cup round of 16 match, where France edged Paraguay 1-0 thanks to a decisive Mbappé penalty. The football star fired back at the senator, calling her a "despicable woman unworthy of her position," whose hatred overshadowed Paraguay's historic run in the tournament.
The incident has already escalated into an international political conflict: the French Football Federation and the Paris prosecutor's office have launched an investigation into online racial abuse, while the Paraguayan government has officially condemned Amarilla's behavior. The senator later deleted the scandalous posts and expressed regret, but stopped short of a full apology. Instead, during a Senate session, she once again used profanities against the footballer and demanded an apology from him, accusing the athlete of "gender and political violence" due to his harsh response to her.
