Six months after choosing to represent the Eagles of Carthage on the international stage, the midfielder has reportedly decided to bring his international career to an end.

According to Radio Mosaïque FM, the 32-year-old has decided to retire from international football and will now focus exclusively on his club career with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. Last March, Rani Khedira secured a change of sporting nationality, allowing him to represent Tunisia, having previously played for German youth teams.

This decision had opened the door for him to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in which he took part with the Eagles of Carthage. However, his spell with the Tunisian national team was ultimately short-lived.

Nevertheless, the end of his international career has not gone unnoticed amongst Tunisians. Some accuse him of using the Tunisian national team to take part in the FIFA World Cup at the age of 32, before retiring after the tournament.

If this retirement is confirmed, Tunisia will now have to look to other players to strengthen its midfield.
