Liverpool are preparing to reward one of their biggest emerging talents with a new contract, despite his current deal being nowhere near its expiry date.

Details: According to The Athletic's Gregg Evans, Liverpool are in advanced negotiations with 19-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni over an improved contract. The two parties have been discussing fresh terms for several months, and optimism is growing that an agreement could be reached soon. However, the deal has not yet been finalized.

Interestingly, Liverpool are under no pressure to rush negotiations. Nyoni still has more than three and a half years remaining on his existing agreement, but the club's management wants to reward his impressive development and increasingly important role under head coach Andoni Iraola.

The Reds demonstrated their confidence in the youngster during the summer transfer window, rejecting a £30 million offer from Nottingham Forest. Nyoni has since continued to establish himself in the first team, making 11 appearances before Wednesday's Champions League fixture and recently earning his first Premier League start against Arsenal.

It's worth noting that on November 4, Nyoni scored against Fenerbahce in the Champions League. At 19 years and 127 days, he became Liverpool's second-youngest goalscorer in the competition, behind only Trent Alexander-Arnold.
