AFCON 2027 qualifiers: concerns over Serhou Guirassy ahead of Guinea’s double-header against Eritrea
Guinea could be without their star striker for the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Serhou Guirassy was forced off through injury in the 34th minute of the Champions League match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis on Wednesday 4 November. The exact nature and severity of his injury remain unknown at this stage.
After the match, Dortmund manager Niko Kovac provided some details on the Guinean centre-forward’s condition. “Serhou Guirassy felt pain in his thigh. We’ll see if it’s just a simple strain, which I don’t think it is. We hope he’ll be back for the first match after the international break,” he said.
This injury comes at a tricky time for the Syli National. The Guinean national team is preparing for its two-legged tie against Eritrea, scheduled for 12 and 16 November. Serhou Guirassy’s participation in these two matches is now uncertain.
