Rivers United have responded to the disciplinary action taken against them by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) over the events surrounding their Matchday 11 fixture against Rangers International.

The league handed the Port Harcourt club a suspended ₦15 million fine, together with a three-point and three-goal deduction, after accusing them of denying its broadcast partners access to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for Sunday's encounter, which ended 1-1.

In an official statement, Rivers United acknowledged receiving the NPFL's summary jurisdiction decision but insisted that the steps taken ahead of and during the November 1 match followed appropriate engagements to ensure its smooth conduct and protect the interests of all stakeholders.

Signed by the club's Media Director, Charles Mayuku, the statement reaffirmed Rivers United's commitment to professionalism and compliance with the league's regulations, commercial agreements and broadcasting arrangements.

The club also stressed the need for improved cooperation between the NPFL, clubs and broadcast partners, particularly in matters involving fixture scheduling and live match coverage.
