NPFL: Katsina United Coach Azeez Audu Hails Team Display in Sporting Lagos Win

Katsina United head coach Azeez Audu Mohammed hailed his players for following instructions after their 2-1 win over Sporting Lagos in the NPFL.

The Chanji Boys claimed all three points against a Sporting Lagos side Mohammed described as a difficult opponent given their record on the road, with 10 points from 11 away games, making it a big result for his team.

“We won. It doesn't matter, clean sheet or not; the most important thing is that we win against a very tough side, very good away. In 11 matches in the league, they picked up 10 points away, so it is not a small thing for you to be able to beat them hands down here. I think my boys did very well,” Mohammed said.

However, the Katsina United boss admitted his side must tighten up defensively, especially from set-pieces, saying his technical crew will work on communication and organisation between defenders and goalkeepers.

“About conceding, we will just continue working till we get it right. We did not defend the way we are supposed to defend well, especially in set pieces. We are going to talk to the boys, defenders and goalkeepers, on how to communicate very well and defend well. But overall, these boys did very well; they played according to instructions,” he added.

Katsina United will now look to build on the win, address their defensive frailties and carry the momentum into their next NPFL fixture.
