NPFL: Daniel Ogunmodede Praises Kano Pillars' Hunger After Win Over Nasarawa United
Kano Pillars Technical Adviser Daniel Ogunmodede has hailed his team's hunger and tactical discipline after their 2-1 triumph over Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 11 game.
Ogunmodede admitted the weight of expectation at the club brings pressure, but said he was impressed by his players' determination to keep hunting for more goals even after going two goals up.
“We often play with too much pressure because we want to win, the fans want us to win every game. But when we are 2-0 up and still want more, for me that is the kind of hunger I want from the fans and the players. The good thing is we are adapting to it,” he said.
The Technical Adviser also acknowledged Nasarawa United's quality, pointing out that they were third in the standings before kick-off, and revealed that Pillars tweaked their approach by deploying their wing-backs more aggressively to trouble the visitors.
“You will agree with me they were tactically sound in the first 20 minutes. We tried to use our wing-backs more and that created confusion for their full-backs. We were ready for them because we knew what winning this match meant for us; it would improve our position on the table,” he added.
Ogunmodede said he was pleased to secure all three points, noting that the result is vital for the team's push up the table.
