Manchester City is helping FIFA sell the broadcasting rights for the Club World Cup
Manchester City is actively collaborating with FIFA on selling the broadcasting rights for the Club World Cup, despite the possibility that the club could be excluded from the tournament next summer due to breaches of England's financial fair play rules.
According to The Telegraph, City's CEO, Ferran Soriano, held talks with FIFA regarding the promotion of the tournament and enthusiastically discussed the Club World Cup during a videoconference organized by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
During the meeting with broadcasters, Soriano was the first club representative to speak after Infantino and ECA President Nasser Al-Khelaifi. FIFA highly valued Manchester City's support, as organizing the new 32-team format of the Club World Cup has been complicated by issues related to venues, sponsorship agreements, and prize funds. These matters still need to be resolved, even though the tournament is set to begin in nine months.
Soriano and Infantino addressed an audience of more than 50 television channels and streaming platforms, seeking assistance in selling the broadcasting rights for the tournament. The discussion also involved Inter's CEO Giuseppe Marotta and Atlético Madrid's Miguel Ángel Gil Marín. Infantino promised that FIFA would confirm the match venues by the end of September.
