Mbappé on fire! Real Madrid star matches feat from 10 years ago
Kylian Mbappé made an impressive start to the fifth-round La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano. The French forward scored and provided an assist within the opening 17 minutes, matching an achievement previously accomplished for Real Madrid by James Rodríguez.
In the 14th minute, Mbappé was given the chance to take a penalty and confidently converted from the spot to open the scoring at the Bernabéu. Just three minutes later, the Frenchman was in the spotlight again, providing an assist for Álvaro Carreras, who doubled the Madrid side's advantage.
According to OptaJose, Mbappé became the first Real Madrid player since James Rodríguez to score and provide an assist within the opening 17 minutes of a La Liga match at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Colombian achieved the same feat in January 2016 against Espanyol.
Real Madrid went into half-time with a comfortable lead. The Madrid side scored three times against Rayo, with Jude Bellingham also getting on the scoresheet.
