Chelsea have extended their poor defensive run and set an unwanted record that the club had not matched for 65 years. The London side have conceded in their 20th consecutive Premier League match. The last time the team kept a clean sheet in the league was on 17 January, when they beat Brentford 2-0.
The Blues conceded another goal in their home match against Hull City in the fourth round of the Premier League. Moreover, Chelsea are trailing 2-1 at half-time.
According to Squawka, Chelsea have conceded in 20 consecutive league matches for the first time in 65 years without managing to keep a clean sheet in any of them. Longer runs without a clean sheet in the club's history were recorded only in the early 1960s.
At the same time, Chelsea's defensive problems are particularly striking given the team's attacking output. The London side are capable of creating chances and scoring goals, but regularly allow their opponents to respond with goals of their own. The situation looks even more concerning this season: in all five matches against Premier League sides across different competitions, the Blues have conceded at least two goals.
